Things to Do

Enjoy life in Lancaster! Step back through time at the Cold War Air Museum, Commemorative Air Force Museum, or the Rocky Crest Museum. Shop locally at Lancaster’s charmingly historic Downtown. Spend the day at the public Country View Golf Course, which offers an 18-hole course, as well as chipping practice areas, putting greens, a driving range, a pro shop, and even a sports bar. And don’t forget to partake in all the outstanding community events, like the Annual MLK Parade and Gala, the Lancaster Country Ride, a July Fourth Celebration, Warbirds on Parade, the Christmas Parade and Festival, or 2nd Saturdays on the Square.

Parks & Recreation

With over 600 acres of parkland and miles of beautiful hiking, biking, walking, and equestrian trails, Lancaster is an outstanding community for getting outside and getting active. The 170-acre Lancaster Community Park offers amenities such as a fishing pond, football, soccer, and baseball fields, hiking and biking trails, an amphitheater, a library, and a Recreation and Senior Center. The Recreation Center includes a water park, gym, jogging track, fitness center, and much more. Throughout the community, you’ll find plenty of small and large parks, fields, trails, pools, and other facilities.

Just outside of town are the Ten Mile Creek Nature Preserve, and the Bear Creek Nature Preserve, which offers equestrian and hiking trails, a fishing pond, climbing rocks, a butterfly garden, and picnic areas.

Shopping, Dining & Conveniences

There’s a wealth of shopping, dining, services, and other businesses large and small to be found in Lancaster. The Courtyard at Pleasant Run, conveniently located directly off I-35E, offers major retailers and department stores, as well as several local restaurants and eateries. Lancaster is also home to a public library, the Lancaster Regional Airport, and a planned BNSF freight transportation facility.

Local Employment

Lancaster boasts a diverse economy based in manufacturing, distributions, healthcare, education, residential development, retail, and more recently, logistics. The ProLogis Park is a large business park home to some of Lancaster’s top employers, include ProLogis, Quaker Oats/PepsiCo, and BMW. Other top employers in the community include BrassCraft Manufacturing, Oak Creek Homes, Cedar Valley college, AT&T Material Distribution Center, Swift Transportation, and United Natural Foods.

Education

Public school students of Lancaster are served by Lancaster Independent School District, which consists of seven elementary schools, one six grade center, one middle school, one high school, and one alternative center. There are also two charter schools, Life School Lancaster and Accelerated Intermediate Academy, and one private school, Berne Academy. For continuing education, Lancaster is home to a campus of the Dallas County Community College District, the Cedar Valley College.
