Favorite events include seasonal holiday celebrations, concerts in the park, Main Street Fest, the Crawfish Boil, Hatch Chili Festival, and Flight of the Monarch.

Highlight Event: Prairie Lights, a 2-mile holiday display of over two million lights and 500 displays, including the world’s longest tunnel of lights. The event lasts 40 days and also offers the Holiday Village, which features concessions, carousel rides, and Santa’s Store.

Outstanding Parks and Recreation

With 52 parks and 13 facilities totalling over 5,000 acres of parkland, it’s not hard to see why the National Recreation and Parks Association recognized Grand Prairie with a Gold Medal Award; it’s home to some of the best parks in the country. Just about everything can be found here, miles of hiking and biking trails, sports fields and courts, playgrounds, pools, picnic areas, lake front beaches, even skate parks and one of the best disc golf courses in North Texas. Additionally, the Grand Prairie Parks and Recreation department offers a wealth of cultural and athletic programs and classes to both youth and adults.
